Vipers Record First-Ever Win At Staples Center

LOS ANGELES, CA - Despite falling behind 12-0 in the opening minutes of the game, the Rio Grande Valley Vipers rallied back in the third quarter to beat the Los Angeles D-Fenders in overtime, 108-101, today at STAPLES Center.

The Vipers (10-3) are now winners of four-straight after picking up their first-ever win at STAPLES Center, where they had previously been 0-2.

Down 46-36 at halftime, the Vipers opened the third quarter on a 17-6 run, capped by a Julian Sensley three-pointer, to take their first lead at 53-52 at the 6:37 mark.

Sensley finished with a season-high 21 points and eight rebounds.

The game became a back-and-forth affair from there, with the Vipers taking a 90-89 lead with 24 seconds left on free throws by Antonio Anderson. Lawrence McKenzie misfired on a jumper with three seconds left as he attempted to give the D-Fenders (7-5) the lead. Joey Dorsey collected the rebound, and after a timeout, Anderson was fouled. He hit both free throws with 0.8 seconds left. After a time out, Joe Crawford's three-point attempt missed, but a foul was called on Will Conroy and Crawford hit all three free throws with 0.2 seconds left to force overtime.

Down 95-94 with 2:45 left in overtime, Dorsey drove into the lane for a slam to spark a 7-0 run over the next 1:28.

Dorsey picked up his seventh double-double of the season with 15 points and 13 rebounds while Anderson scored a game-high 26 points with go with nine assists.

Conroy scored 14 of his 15 points after halftime in his second game with the Vipers.

The Vipers are back in action tomorrow during game one of the NBA Development League Showcase with a 12:00 p.m. start against the Albuquerque Thunderbirds at Qwest Arena. The game will be televised live on NBA TV. Fans can also listen to the game on 104.9 Jack FM. Pre-game coverage begins at 11:45 a.m.
