
Vipers Fall to Iowa 145-111

HIDALGO, Texas, March 26, 2014 - The Rio Grande Valley Vipers (29-17) fell 145-111 to the Iowa Energy (27-17) tonight at State Farm Arena.
Houston Rockets assignee Robert Covington led the Vipers with 23 points, followed by Darius Morris with 18 points. Troy Daniels added 14 points.
Washington Wizards assignee Glen Rice, Jr. led the Energy with 25 points. Patrick Christopher contributed 20 points. Othyus Jeffers added 19 points and 17 rebounds. Moses Ehambe also scored 19 points. Augustus Gilchrist recorded 16 points, and Jackie Carmichael scored 15 points and 10 rebounds.
The score tied eight times throughout the first quarter as both teams fought for control. Iowa held a 33-32 lead starting the second quarter. With 3:53 on the clock, the Energy held their largest lead of the first half 64-46. Daniels responded with a three-pointer. By halftime, RGV cut its deficit to 10 points, 74-64.
Iowa controlled the second half of the game. At the end of the third, the Energy were up 118-85 and won 145-111.
The Vipers visit the Tulsa 66ers Friday, March 28. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. (CT) at the SpiritBank Center. Then, the Vipers are back at home Saturday, March 29 to host the Texas Legends in a 7 p.m. (CT) contest at State Farm Arena.
