Alabama Vipers News Release
Huntsville, AL- The Tennessee Valley Vipers have announced that the team has been assigned defensive back and wide receiver Gary Elliott for the 2008 arena football 2 season. Elliott, who played college football at Midwestern State, played last season for the Vipers and collected 24.5 tackles and one interception as well as catching eight passes for 116 yards. "He is an explosive player who has the potential to be a solid two way guy and a very good kick return man, "said Vipers head coach Dean Cokinos.
The Vipers have also been assigned defensive back Demetrius Derico and wide receiver/defensive back Pedro Holiday. Derico played last season with the New Orleans Voodoo of the Arena Football League. "Derico will provide us with instant credibility in the secondary. Having played with the New Orleans Voodoo, he received valuable experience in arena football," said Cokinos.
Holiday, who played his college football at Middle Tennessee State University, finished the 2003 season with 126 yards receiving and two touchdowns. He was also a member of the MTSU track team and earned All-American honors at the 2003 NCAA Championships as part of the 4x100 relay team, and was in the Nashville Kats training camp last season.

The Vipers will play eight home games at the Von Braun Center. "It looks to be a challenging schedule.
