Firecats Announce 2008 Schedule

Florida Firecats News Release
Estero, FL- The Florida Firecats announced their schedule for the 2008 season today. The schedule is highlighted by three games against their new instate rivals, the Dayton Beach Firebirds. The Peoria Pirates return to the af2 after a two-year hiatus. Florida and Peoria battled for the 2002 and 2004 ArenaCup with the Firecats winning the league championship in '04. Florida will also take their longest road trip in franchise history when they head west to play the Boise Burn in July.
The Florida Firecats will return to the American Conference in 2008 after one season in the National Conference. Florida has won the South Division each of the past four seasons. Joining Florida in the re-aligned South Division are the South Georgia Wildcats, Tennessee Valley Vipers and the expansion Daytona Beach FireBirds.
Fourteen (14) teams make up the American Conference and fifteen (15) make up the National Conference. The addition of five new teams for 2008 created the need for the divisions to be adjusted from 2007.
