Vipers Fall 61-48 to Tulsa at VBC

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - The Alabama Vipers let a 21-0 lead slip away in the second quarter and never recovered in falling 61-48 to the Tulsa Talons before 4,298 fans Saturday night at the Von Braun Center.

The Vipers - who committed six turnovers - fell to 6-8 on the Arena Football League season, while Tulsa improved to 9-5.

Justin Allgood completed 25 of 40 passes for 310 yards and six touchdowns and one interception for the Talons, with nine of his completions going to Jeff Hughley for 111 yards and two scores.

Alabama starter Tim Hicks was 13 of 18 for 112 yards and two touchdowns with a pair of picks before he left the game with a concussion in the second half. Backup Tony Colston came on to throw for 156 yards and three touchdowns on 12 of 19 attempts.

Larry Shipp and Michael Johnson had a pair of touchdown catches each for Alabama, while Vince Hill had a 46-yard interception return for a touchdown that sparked the Vipers to their early advantage.

The game was tied at 28-all at the half before Allgood sparked a Tulsa run that included a pair of touchdown passes that made it a 49-28 game with 2:56 left in the third. His 34-yarder to Hughley put the Talons up 58-35 with 6:19 to play before the Vipers scrapped back behind Colston's arm.
