MCALLEN, Texas - The NBA Development League Rio Grande Valley Vipers today announced that they have acquired center Tim Ohlbrecht. The Vipers have also waived guard Mike Black.

Ohlbrecht (6-11, 255, Germany) appeared in 32 games with the Vipers last season, and averaged 13.4 points, 7.4 rebounds and 1.6 blocks. He was also named a NBA Development League All-Star, where he registered 12 points (6-9 FG) and a game-high 12 rebounds for the Prospects in a 139-125 win over the Futures squad. He finished regular season third in the D-League in field goal percentage (.605, 164-271FG) and stood 14th in the league in blocks per game (1.63).

On Feb. 25, 2013, he received a GATORADE Call-Up from the Houston Rockets. Ohlbrecht was on assignment to the Vipers during the 2013 NBA D-League Playoffs, where he helped the Vipers capture the 2013 D-League Championship, their second in four years. He was traded by Houston to Philadelphia in the offseason, but was released by the Sixers in July.

A member of the German National Team, Ohlbrecht has also competed internationally in the Germany-BBL with Bayer Leverkusen (2005-06), Brose Baskets Bamberg (2006-09), Telekom Baskets Bonn (2009-11) and Skyliners Frankfurt (2011-12).

Next up, the Vipers host the Texas Legends Monday, Dec. 2 in a 7 p.m. (CT) game at State Farm Arena. For more information about the RGV Vipers 2013-14 season and ticket information, call the Vipers or visit www.rgvipers.com.
