FRISCO, Texas - Grant Jerrett scored 28 points on 10-for-17 shooting but the Tulsa 66ers fell to the Texas Legends, 111-106, on Saturday night at Dr. Pepper Arena in Frisco, Texas.
Jerrett, a rookie forward out of Arizona, shot 3-for-4 from three-point range and grabbed five rebounds in 35 minutes of action. He was one of six Tulsa players to score in double digits, including Rodney Bartholomew who scored 11 points and pulled down 12 rebounds. Mario Little added 15 points and seven boards.
The 66ers trailed 9-6 early before spurring 13 unanswered points and a 33-10 run to close the frame. Tulsa shot 15-for-21 (71.4 percent) from the field in the opening quarter, including 6-for-7 (85.7 percent) from behind the three-point line.
Texas began to cut away at Tulsa's lead, outscoring the 66ers 38-25 in the second quarter to bring the 66ers' halftime lead to 64-57. The Legends eventually took the lead off of a three-pointer from Dallas Mavericks assignment player Ricky Ledo to make it 79-78 before leading 86-80 at the end of the third.
The 66ers used a 6-0 run in the first minute of the fourth quarter to tie the game, but the Legends began to pull away and take a 101-91 lead with six minutes remaining. Tulsa continued to show fight, pulling within three points before Texas' Chris Douglas-Roberts sunk a pair of foul shots with 15 seconds remaining. Texas scored its final 13 points from the free-throw line.
Tulsa (0-4) outrebounded the Legends 43-42 and shot 40-for-81 (49.4 percent) from the field for their best shooting performance of the season.
Texas (3-0) was led by Douglas-Roberts with 22 points.
The 66ers return to the SpiritBank Event Center for three home games next week. Tulsa will host the Sioux Falls Skyforce for a matinee game on Thursday, Dec. 5, at 11 a.m. The 66ers then take on the Delaware 87ers on Friday, Dec. 6 at 7 p.m. and the Texas Legends on Sunday, Dec. 8 at 4 p.m. For ticket information, visit Tulsa66ers.com.
