
Victory moves first-year club into tie atop MISL Standings

(Southfield, MI) - The Detroit Ignition (11-7) posted a 10-6 victory over the defending MISL Champion Baltimore Blast (7-9) in front of 9,622 at the 1st Mariner Arena in Baltimore, MD. The game-winning goal, a three-pointer and his second tally of the game, was registered by Detroit defenseman Jonathan Greenfield at the 6:30 mark of the third quarter. The win, coupled with a Saturday loss by the Philadelphia, moves Detroit into a tie with the KiXX atop the MISL standings. On Sunday, January 28, Detroit will take on the KiXX at Compuware Sports Arena in Plymouth, MI. Game-time is slated for 4:35 pm ET.
After a scoreless opening frame of play, Ignition captain Novi Marojevic scored the game's first goal, a three-pointer, on the power play at 10:27 of the second quarter to give Detroit the 3-0 lead. Denison Cabral answered quickly for the Blast with a two-point restart goal at 12:15, cutting the Ignition lead down to 3-2 at the end of the first half.
Ignition defender, and December's MISL Defender of the Month, Jonathan Greenfield put one into the back of the net to extend the Detroit lead to 5-2 at 3:21 of the third quarter. Greenfield followed with another score, this time for three points, at the 6:30 mark to put the Detroit advantage at 8-2. Machel Milwood responded with a two-pointer for Baltimore at 9:53 to cut the Ignition advantage down to 8-4 at the end of three quarters of play.
Forward Jamar Beasley extended his League scoring lead with a two-point goal at the 10:40 mark of the fourth quarter to put the Detroit lead at 10-4. Millwood tallied his second two-point goal of the game for Baltimore at 14:11 as the Ignition registered the 10-6 victory in Baltimore.
