West Valley City, Utah - The Victoria Salmon Kings defeated the Utah Grizzlies 4-2 at Maverik Center Saturday night to take a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven series.

"It's frustrating, we have good leadership, but we're also inexperienced at this time of year," said Grizzlies Head Coach Kevin Colley. "We just have to stay patient, we can't keep gambling and giving them odd-man rushes. They're making us work for everything and we have to do the same to them."

Utah led 1-0 after 20 minutes as Chris Donovan fed Marcus Carroll from behind the net for his second goal of the playoffs. Hugo Carpentier picked up an assist on the play as well.

Victoria opened up the second period with three goals in a 10:23 stretch to take 2-1 and 3-2 leads. Utah tied the contest at two on a Nick Tuzzolino power-play goal with Simon Ferguson and Matt Reber picking up assists at 13:46 of the second period.

Utah called timeout with 2:32 left and down 4-2. They again had some good chances, and kept the Salmon Kings away from their empty-net.

The series now reverts to Canada starting Wednesday. Face-off is scheduled for 8:05 p.m.
