Victoria, BC - The Victoria Seals are proud to announce that the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Torch will be headlining a full week of action at Royal Athletic Park. Preparing for their final regular season series against the Edmonton Capitals in 2009, this three game series also marks a key set of games for the Seals in the battle for a North Division playoff spot.
Starting with the series opener on Tuesday night, a 7:05 p.m. (PT) first pitch at Royal Athletic Park, Victoria will try and avenge three straight losses to the Capitals in their last meeting one week ago.
Then, on Wednesday evening, the Seals will welcome Edmonton back for game two and also play host to the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Torch, presented by Coca-Cola. Kicked off by a ceremonial first pitch from Canadian Olympic rower Adam Kreek, game time is 7:05 p.m. (PT).
The 2010 Olympic Torch, designed and manufactured by Bombardier in collaboration with the Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, will carry the Olympic Flame across Canada on its 45,000-kilometre journey. Twelve-thousand torchbearers will hold an Olympic Torch as they move through 1,020 communities across Canada. Over 90 per cent of the Canadian population will have an opportunity to see the beauty of the Olympic Torch leading up to BC Place on February 12, 2010, when the lighting of the Olympic Cauldron signals the start of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games.
The series between the Capitals and Seals then wraps up on Thursday afternoon in a Businessman's Special at Royal Athletic Park - a 12:00 p.m. (PT) start time for the series finale.
