Vibes Re-Hire Dave Hajek as Director of Player Personnel

Colorado Springs, Colorado, 20 June 2022 The Rocky Mountain Vibes have re-hired Dave Hajek as their new Director of Player Personnel. Hajek, currently the head coach for the UCCS baseball program, will continue his duties at UCCS but also take on the duties of forming the Vibes roster for the remainder of the 2022 season. Hajek was originally hired prior to the 2021 season to fill a similar role in addition to being the Vibes field manager. He then stepped away from the team after the partnership with Monclova was announced.

Along with Hajek, the Vibes have hired Joe Mikulik as their new field manager, and Mike Garcia as their new pitching coach. Mikulik comes most recently from Grand Junction, as Mikulik boasts an 11-year Minor League playing career and is most notable for his coaching in Asheville and Frisco where he served as manager for both clubs. Garcia returns to the Vibes as the pitching coach for the second straight season. Garcia boasts a 17-year professional resume including two seasons for the Pittsburgh Pirates. In conjunction with the coaching and front office personnel changes, the Vibes have made a series of roster moves that see 9 current Vibes players leaving and being replaced with new players.

The full list of releases are as follows: Garrett Alvarez (RHP), Johnny Morell (RHP), Jesus Rios (RHP), Jose Mora (RHP), Julian Lara (C), Jesus Rabago (C), Paul Carreno (INF), Dalys Binder (INF), and Joshua Esparza (OF).

The full list of additions are as follows: Brock Knoten (RHP acquired via trade w/ GRR), Chris Allen (LHP acquired via trade w/ GRR), Seth Davis (LHP free agent), Brett Erwin (RHP free agent), Pete Bayer (RHP free agent), Greyson Fletcher (RHP free agent), Nathan Draves (RHP free agent), Armando Valle (LHP free agent), Luis Navarro (C free agent), Josh Glenn (C free agent), Mike Annone (1B free agent), Joseph Encarnacion (SS free agent), Andrew Hanson (INF free agent), Pedro Alfonseca (OF free agent), and Cesar Lopez (OF free agent).

In addition to the releases and signings, the Vibes also moved first baseman Caleb Marquez to the 10-day Injured List (hamstring injury), and placed Jaaisel Ochoa (LHP) and Eder Rosales (C) on the Inactive List. The Vibes also made a trade with Glacier yesterday, acquiring pitchers Brock Knoten and Chris Allen from the Ridge Runners in exchange for 2 players to be named later. Knoten and Allen will remain inactive until Thursday when the team returns home.
