Veteran center added to Grrrowl roster

GREENVILLE, SC â The Greenville Grrrowl of the ECHL, proud affiliates of the Chicago Blackhawks and Edmonton Oilers, have announced that RICHARD PITIRRI has agreed to terms for the upcoming 2004-05 season. Pitirri competed with the Richmond Riverdogs (UHL) last season, and played in 257 ECHL games in the previous four seasons.
RICHARD PITIRRI (6-0, 220lbs., center) has played in 341 professional games, including nine games with the Portland Pirates of the AHL during the 1999-00 season. In Richmond last season, Pitirri totaled 55 points (17G, 38A) in 75 games, with an additional 2 points in four playoff games. He has been a steady scorer over his professional career, averaging over 49 points per season. Pitirri also posted some impressive numbers in the Ontario Hockey League, including two seasons with more than 70 points. The 26-year-old Burlington, ONT native
Marks on Pitirri: "Richard is a very consistent performer with a lot of solid experience. He will bring a lot to the table in terms of ability, character and work ethic. I believe that Richard will be a true professional who will set a great example for our younger players. He will certainly have a good feel for this league, and is accustomed to competing at a high level every night."
Pitirri joins the following players who have agreed to terms for the 2004-05 season: FORWARDS â Krys Barch, Josh Oort, Kevin Bergin, Mike Nelson, Jason Norrie (VET), Carl Mallette, Colin Pepperall (VET), Mark Concannon, Russell Spence, Richard Naumann, Troy Illijow; DEFENSE â Corey Hessler, Paul Esdale, Joey Martin, Jason Metcalfe, Daryl Pierce, Randy Dagenais.
