Myrtle Beach Thunderboltz News Release

FLORENCE, SC – The Pee Dee Pride announced today that the team has signed defensemen Darryl Green and Tyler Kindle to contracts for the 2004-2005 season.

Green enters his second pro season after playing his rookie season with the Central Hockey League's Wichita Thunder. In 48 games with the Thunder, the Chatham, Ontario native scored nine goals and added 21 assists for 30 points, and was named the team's Rookie of the Year. Prior to turning pro, he played three seasons at the University of Massachusetts at Lowell, where he was teammates with Pride center Kyle Kidney in 2000-2001.

"Darryl is an excellent d-man who won Rookie of the Year honors with Wichita last season," Pride Head Coach Perry Florio said. "He will give us another offensive weapon on the blue line and will give us a lot of quality minutes."

Kindle also enters his second pro season after splitting last season with three ECHL teams. He started the season with the Pensacola Ice Pilots, before being traded to the Trenton Titans in January. At the trading deadline in March, the Titans traded him to the Cincinnati Cyclones. Kindle became a free agent after the Cyclones suspended operations earlier this summer.

The Portage, MI native played four seasons of college hockey at Wayne State University. He graduated as the school's all-time leader in goals, assists and points among defensemen. In his senior season, he led all College Hockey America defensemen in assists (23) and points (27).

"Tyler had a 13 goals last season, and like Darryl Green, will provide offensive punch," Florio said. Tyler's best attributes are his skating ability and his eye to jump in the rush."
