Aberdeen Wings News Release
Aberdeen Wings goaltender Matt Vernon recently set franchise records for wins, surpassing Chad Catt and Shutouts surpassing Peter Thome. Matt has 5 shutouts with the Wings and currently has 42 career wins with the Wings.
Wings Alumni Chad Catt held the record for most wins with 33. Chad played started with the Wings during the 2012-2013 season, playing in 15 games and getting 7 wins. the following season Chad had 18 wins in 34 games played. In his final season Chad had 8 wins in 22 games played. After leaving the Wings Chad went on to play DI Hockey at the University of Michigan.
Peter Thome played just one season with the Wings in 2015-2016 but was able to get 17 wins in 47 games played with 4 shutouts. Peter had a 2.43 goals against average and a 0.929 save percentage during that season. After leaving the Wings Peter spent time in the USHL before heading to the University of North Dakota where he is currently still playing for the Fighting Hawks.
Matt will join these 2 players in the ranks of DI goaltenders to come out of Aberdeen when he attends Colorado College.
