
Vermont Loses to Gulls

Newport, RI - Vermont drops another game in Newport to the Gulls and continues what is now a four game losing streak.
It was another very slow offensive game for the Mountaineers as they were held scoreless until the seventh inning. Vermont had gone a total of seventeen innings without scoring a run over the last three games.
Newport struck first in the fourth inning with a run and would do the same in the fifth inning. After leading 2-0 headed to the sixth, the Gulls exploded for seven runs including three consecutive home runs putting Newport up 9-0.
Vermont finally scored runs in the seventh and the eight inning earning their only two runs on the evening.
Tonight's winning pitcher was Peter Sakellaris who went one inning and allowed no runs, no hits and no strikeouts. The loss was dealt to Chris Kahler who went four and a third innings giving up two runs on four hits and recorded four strikeouts.
Final score from Newport 9-2 the Mountaineers take the loss.
Vermont will take a few days off ass multiple members will be traveling to the Vineyard for this year's 2022 NECBL All Star game. Vermont returns home on Tuesday for a matchup against Winnipesaukee at 6:30. Catch it all on the NECBL Broadcast Network.
