New York City FC News Release
New York, N.Y. - New York City Football Club can today confirm venue information for our upcoming First Round MLS playoff game.
Following last weekend's results, New York City Football Club (NYCFC) will make its seventh consecutive Audi MLS Cup Playoffs appearance as the Club looks to become the first team in a decade to win back-to-back MLS Cups. Additionally, following the Club's come-from-behind victory against Orlando City, NYCFC clinched a top-four finish in the Eastern Conference, securing a first-round home playoff match for the second year in a row.
Due to the MLB playoffs, Yankee Stadium and Citi Field are unavailable to host the match. Therefore, NYCFC can today confirm that the first-round playoff match will be played at Red Bull Arena, as it is the only other MLS approved venue in the immediate New York City area.
In the event that NYCFC hosts the Red Bulls in the first round, an alternative venue will be used for the match. If NYCFC hosts playoff games in subsequent rounds, the Club's venue priority will continue to be Yankee Stadium first, Citi Field second, and Red Bull Arena third, based upon availability.
The time, date, and opponent of the first-round playoff match will be announced following the end of the regular season this weekend.
