Las Vegas Venom News Release
Las Vegas, NV - Former UNLV and NBA Star Tyrone Nesby scored 23 first half points to help the Las Vegas Venom outlast the Hollywood Fame 122-111. "We played a great second half," said Frenzy Assistant Coach Che' Jones. "We kept our turnovers down and made some great decisions. I was really happy about the whole team effort." The Venom shot out of the gate with a 31 point first quarter, leading Hollywood by four at the break. The Fame took the lead into halftime, but the up tempo style of play helped secure the Venom's first win of the season.
"This was a 180 degree turn from our last road game," said Nesby, who serves as player and head coach. "We made some sloppy plays in the second half, but we hit our shots and made the plays when we needed to."
Nesby led the Frenzy with a team record 38 points and got a helping hand from the Venom's Ohio based duo of Kenny Langhorne and Dajuan Tate. Tate scored 13 points with 7 rebounds while Langhorne scored 25 in his first start of the season on an array of high-flying plays.
The Venom (1-2) continue their November road trip with an early morning bus ride to San Diego, CA where they will take on the San Diego Wildcats. Led by AND1 star Cardel Butler. "This is the toughest part of the pro game," Nesby said. "Going back to back on the road against this level of player will really be a challenge for our guys."
The Venom will be back in Las Vegas on November 18th to take on the 4-0 Gallup Outlaws. The game will be played at Del Sol High School starting at 7pm. Tickets start at $7 and for each full price adult ticket purchased you get a children's ticket free. For more information please log on to www.venombasketball.com.
