Venom reaches out to youth

October 20, 2006 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Las Vegas Venom News Release

LAS VEGAS - (Oct. 18, 2006) The Las Vegas chapter of the Boys & Girls Club is anticipating this year's Boys Nite Out event, taking place on Thursday, October 19th from 6-9 p.m. at the club's Lied Memorial location. Las Vegas Venom is also preparing for the occasion; they will be holding a booth where fans can meet and greet the team players for autographs and pictures.

The event's objective is to reach out to the many boys in the community who come from broken homes or disadvantaged families. The agenda for the evening include playing games, enjoying a barbeque dinner and other special activities. The Venom will join other sponsors and volunteers to demonstrate that they are not just a basketball team but a good community neighbor as well. Aside from signing autographs, the team will be passing out awards and prizes to participants for their game performances.

With the first game of the season approaching, Las Vegas Venom works hard to assure their community fan base by fostering strong relationships with local organizations. Another partnership includes the After School All-Stars Program, a nationally-acclaimed organization that provides children a safe place to go as an alternative to facing risks such as getting involved with crimes, gangs and drugs.

Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
