Vegas wins in bottom of the ninth again

Cody Ross delivered a run scoring single in the bottom of the ninth lifting Las Vegas to a 4-3 victory over Tucson Wednesday night at Cashman Field. The game marked the second straight game that that the 51's prevailed in the bottom of the ninth. Tuesday Vegas scored four runs in the ninth for an 8-7 victory. The 51's have also won all three games of the series marking the first time this season Tucson has lost a series.

Chin-Feng Chen started the ninth with a double off Tucson left-hander Jon Cannon. Rick Bell followed with a single to right advancing Chen to third before Ross came through with the game winning hit.

Tucson got on the board first in the second inning. Craig Ansman walked and advanced on a single by Luis Terrero. Steve Neal's run scoring single plated Ansman for a 1-0 advantage. Keoni DeRenne followed with a sacrifice fly to left plating Terrero with the second tally.

Las Vegas tied the game in the bottom of the second against Tucson starter Phil Stockman. Jackson delivered a two-run, two-out single to left to even the game at 2.

The 51's claimed a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the seventh when Ryan Kellner singled in Cody Ross. Tucson tied the game in the eighth when Andy Green walked and eventually scored on a single from Noochie Varner.

Tucson's record fell to 14-12. The Sidewinders will finish the four-game series with a 10:30 a.m. start Thursday in Las Vegas. Andrew Good (2-1 3.00) will start for Tucson against the 51's Heath Totten (1-2 3.13). The game will BE TAPE DELAYED on Cool 1450 AM and replayed at 7:00 p.m.
