Vero Beach Devil Rays News Release

Despite three home runs, the Vero Beach Dodgers dropped their seventh game in the last eight tries in a 5-4 decision to the Jupiter Hammerheads Saturday night at Holman Stadium. Anthony Raglani, Jimmy Rohan and Matt Kemp each his solo home runs in the loss. Kemp's shot was his 26th of the season, tying a franchise record set by Adrian Beltre in 1997. The series concludes Sunday at 1:00 PM.

Raglani's long ball went off the light pole in right field in the first inning to give the Dodgers an early lead. Jupiter came back to score twice in the third and added two more in the fourth on a Ryan Bear home run. Starter Brian Pilkington then settled down, keeping Jupiter off the scoreboard over the next 3 1/3 innings.

Vero tried to come back. Rohan's homer came with two out in the fifth and made it 4-2. A.J. Ellis followed with a walk, then Mayke Cabrera singled him to second. Chin-lung Hu followed with a double down the left field line to score Ellis and bring the Dodgers within a run. Kemp led off the next inning with his home run, a majestic shot that sailed far over the left field scoreboard and tied the game.

The Hammerheads went back on top in the eighth. Kevin Randel and Angel Molina reached on back-to-back singles. After a sacrifice bunt and an intentional walk, Lee Mitchell singled to center to score what turned out to be the winning run.
