JACKSON, Tenn. - The Miami Marlins have made a transaction that impacts their Double-A affiliate Jacksonville Suns roster prior to tonight's game against the Jackson Generals at The Ballpark in Jackson in Jackson, Tenn.

Right-handed relief pitcher Rett Varner has been transferred from Triple-A New Orleans to the Suns. This will be Varner's third stint with Jacksonville this season, where he is 1-1 with a 4.32 ERA in seven relief appearances. Varner in New Orleans had no wins or losses in one appearance with a 4.50 ERA in two innings of work.

The Suns roster stands at 25, and a revised roster is attached.

The Suns and Generals will play the third game of their five-game series on Friday night at 8:05 p.m. ET. Right-hander Matthew Neil (0-2, 4.79 ERA) will start for the Suns against Jackson left-hander Roenis Elias (1-2, 2.93 ERA). Fans can listen to the contest on the Suns Baseball Network, with coverage beginning with the UF & Shands Suns Pregame Show at 7:50 p.m. on WSOS-FM 94.1.

Jacksonville returns home Tuesday, May 7 for a five-game series with the Pensacola Blue Wahoos, the Double-A affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds.
