PEARL, MS . - Kyle Russell delivered a walk-off, RBI single in the bottom of the 11th to give the Mississippi Braves a 3-2 victory over the Tennessee Smokies in Game 3 of their five-game series. The loss drops the Smokies two games back of Birmingham in the Southern League's North Division.

The Braves loaded the bases with one out on a walk, a hit by pitch, and a single against Smokies reliever Frank Batista. Russell then lined the game-winning single to right field off second baseman Elliot Soto's glove and into right field for the Braves win.

Each team had chances late to win the game and came up empty. Marcus Hatley pitched the Smokies out of a bases-loaded, no-out jam in the bottom of the 9th inning by striking out three straight batters. Tennessee had a chance of their own in the top of the 10th with Arismendy Alcantara on 3rd with no one out, but Erik Hamren came back to strike out three straight batters to end the frame.

The Smokies scored the game's first run in the opening half inning thanks to two defensive mishaps by the Braves. Ronald Torreyes reached on a two-base error by center fielder Mycal Jones and with two outs, Torreyes scored when Ty Wright reached on a two-base error by Russell in left field.

Tennessee added another unearned run in the top of the 7th. Pitcher Alberto Cabrera led off and reached on a two-base error by Jones, his second error of the game. Two batters later Torreyes drove in Cabrera with an RBI single to double the Smokies advantage to 2-0.

Mississippi rallied to tie the game with two runs in the home half of the seventh, their first runs in over 15 innings. The Braves loaded the bases with nobody out and Emerson Landoni brought in the first run with an RBI groundout. Jones followed with a sacrifice fly that scored Shawn McGill and tied the contest at 2-2.

In a highly-anticipated pitching matchup with Braves starter Alex Wood, Cabrera did not disappoint for the Smokies. He did not allow a run in six innings yielding just two hits and two walks with eight strikeouts. Wood surrendered an unearned run in four innings on three hits with seven strikeouts.

The Smokies and Braves will continue their five-game series tomorrow night at 7:00 ET when Tennessee sends left-hander Eric Jokisch (3-1, 1.84) to the mound against Mississippi righty Gus Schlosser (1-1, 6.06) at Trustmark Park.
