Vancouver Giants Announce Top 10 Special Events

The Vancouver Giants will kick off their second decade of "Hockey with Heart" with a star-studded line-up of events and promotions, highlighted by the Giants' "Top 10 Special Events". It all kicks off with our Home Opener - Friday, September 23 - when the Giants host the Victoria Royals at 7:30pm. This will mark the first ever game for the former Chilliwack Bruins squad. On that night, the Giants will salute the first Giant Alumni to win a Stanley Cup, Milan Lucic, with a pre- game handout for the first 5,000 fans through the doors. Each will receive a commemorative print of Milan celebrating both his Memorial Cup and Stanley Cup victories atop Grouse Mountain.

The Giants will also honour some of the greatest legends in the history of the game, and our city, in our "Legends Series". November 12 will be"Heroes of Hastings Night" honouring some of the great personalities and moments from years gone by here at the Pacific Coliseum, Hastings Park and Empire Field. Then on January 7, "The Flower" Guy Lafleur will be on hand, followed by "Mr. Hockey" Gordie Howe on February 3.

Fans will also eagerly await the next installments in the "Giant Alumni Night Series", honouring some of the franchise's greatest players. This year's first entrant to the Giants "Ring of Honour" will be former WHL and Memorial Cup Champion, and current defenseman for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Cody Franson on February 17. Then on March 7, Vancouver's own Evander Kane will take an evening away from his Winnipeg Jets to visit his former hockey home.

January 20 will celebrate the man voted the "Best Coach in WHL History" - current bench boss for the Giants and the man who will lead Team Canada at this year's World Juniors - Don Hay.

Rounding out the list are annual favourites like Teddy Bear Toss (December 9), Celebrity Dash for Cash (October 21), and the grand finale, Honda Fan Appreciation Night at the final game of the regular season, March 16, where one lucky fan will drive home a winner!
