Vancouver Giants News Release
The Vancouver Giants suffered thieir 3rd straight loss, falling to the Kamloops Blazers 4-1 Monday night at the Pacific Coliseum. Prior to the game the organization honoured former defenceman Andrej Meszaros, who was added to the Giants Ring Of Honour.
The visitors got on the board first on a 4-on-4 situation; Austin Madaisky's point shot went off a body and in to put the Blazers up 1-0 through 20 minutes of play.
Kamloops added to their lead in the 2nd period as Dylan Willick took advantage of some sloppy play in the Giants defensive zone, pouncing on a loose puck to put the Blazers in front 2-0. However, just 1:21 later Nathan Burns scored his 5th of the season to cut the lead to 2-1. Kamloops though would restore their two goal lead before the period was out, as Thomas Frazee got credit for the goal. In fact it was Zach Hodder, playing his first game of the season, who accidentally tipped the puck past Mark Segal into his own net. The Blazers were in front 3-1 after 40 minutes.
Vancouver tried desperately to get back into the game in the third period firing 12 shots Jeff Bosch's way, but everyone was stopped. Bosch made 28 saves in total on the night. Chase Schaber would add a late goal for the Blazers to seal the deal. Kamloops defeated Vancouver 4-1. Segal made 25 saves in a losing cause.
The Giants will have an opportunity to exact some revenge on the Blazers tomorrow night as these two teams will do it all over again, but this time at the Interior Savings Centre in Kamloops. Game time is 7:00pm. The pregame show kicks off at 6:30pm on AM 650.
