
Van Dusen fans 10 as Aviators Top Pelicans

Derrick Van Dusen turned in an outstanding performance, striking out 10 batters and allowing only 1 run as Coastal Bend downed Pensacola 4-1 to take the rubber game of a 3 game set. With the victory, Van Dusen improves to 2-0 and lowers his ERA to 2.77 and batting average against to a stellar .177
While the Aviators offense collected only 6 hits, 3 were for extra bases. In the 1st inning, right fielder Juan Figeroa drove home Bryan Fryer and gave Coastal Bend a 2-0 lead when he blasted his first homerun of the season over the right field wall. In the 5th, the Aviators used doubles from first baseman Grant Richardson and second baseman Will Lewis to up the margin to 3-0. Newly acquired reliever Matt Wilkinson gave up two singles in the 9th to bring DH Larry Bethea to the plate as the tying run. But Wilkinson set him down on strikes to end the ballgame.
With the victory, the Aviators move back over .500, improving to 4-3. They now head to El Paso for a 4 game series beginning Thursday.
