TROY, NY - The Tri-City ValleyCats, New York-Penn League Class A affiliate of the Houston Astros, will host a nationally televised game for the first time in franchise history this Sunday, July 19 as they take on the Aberdeen IronBirds, affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, at 6:00 p.m. EDT.

The game is part of Minor League Baseball's Sunday Showcase on the American Sports Network, who will distribute the game from coast-to-coast across many of Sinclair Broadcasting Group's 150+ local affiliate stations, and leading regional sports networks including MSG Networks Plus, Cox Sports, Comcast SportsNet, and Altitude Sports.

The broadcast, featured locally in Albany on WCWN (CW-15) and Aberdeen on WNUV (CW), will be available in more than 30 million homes across the country.

"The entire ValleyCats organization is thrilled to be hosting the first nationally televised game in franchise history, which will provide our club with an unmatched opportunity to promote the ValleyCats brand nationwide," said Rick Murphy, ValleyCats Executive Vice President / Chief Operating Officer. "The entire country will now be able to get a glimpse into what fans here in the Capital Region have come to enjoy for the past 13 seasons."

"We look at our new relationship with ASN as yet another way to expand the reach of Minor League Baseball beyond the ballpark," said Michael Hand, Minor League Baseball CMO and President, MiLB Enterprises. "We have been a part of the sports landscape for more than a century and provided entertainment to millions of fans. We're thrilled to bring the Minor League Baseball grassroots experience into more American homes and tell the incredible stories of our clubs while highlighting the commitment made to each community."

Armstrong, who will do the play-by-play, boasts professional sports credentials including three seasons in Major League Baseball as the television voice of the Kansas City Royals (1993-1995) followed by six seasons with the Colorado Rockies (1996-2001).
