(Fort Wayne, IN) - A two-run home run from George Valera was enough offense for the Lake County Captains (32-26) in a 3-1 win over the Fort Wayne TinCaps (25-32) on Friday night at Parkview Field.

Valera gave the Captains a 2-0 lead in the third inning. With one on and two outs, Valera ripped a line drive home run over the left-center field wall to put the Captains in front.

The TinCaps cut the Captains' lead to 2-1 in the fourth. Grant Little singled with two outs and moved to third on a bloop single to center by Adam Kerner. With Jawuan Harris at the plate, Kerner took off for second base and Little broke for home as Captains catcher

Bryan Lavastida threw to second. Second baseman José Tena tagged out Kerner for the final out, but Little crossed home plate before the tag to secure the run.

Lake County added an insurance run in the top of the eighth. Valera walked with one out to spark the rally. Tena was up next and he poked a soft grounder that snuck down the left field line for a double. With runners on second and third, reliever Ramon Perez spiked a ball in the dirt that got by Adam Kerner for a wild pitch, allowing Valera to score from third and push the Captains lead to 3-1.

Nathan Ocker (4-0) earned the win with 2.1 scoreless innings in relief. He allowed one hit with three strikeouts.

Matt Waldon (2-5) took the loss for the TinCaps after allowing two runs in seven innings on the mound. He allowed nine hits, one walk and five strikeouts.

Jerson Ramirez (2) earned the save with a scoreless ninth. He struck out one man and did not allow a base runner.

Hunter Gaddis is scheduled to start for the Captains in the fifth game of the six-game series. First pitch at Parkview Field is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
