May 19, 2022 - Eastern League (EL)
Akron RubberDucks News Release
Summary
George Valera and Daniel Schneemann combine to hit three home runs and drive in eight runs as the Akron RubberDucks dominate the Binghamton Rumble Ponies 13-1 on Thursday night at Mirabito Stadium.
Turning Point
Heading into the fifth inning already up 1-0, the RubberDucks looked to add on when Daniel Schneemann lined a single into left to score Ike Freeman and make it 2-0 Akron. After a bunt single by Bo Naylor loaded the bases, George Valera launched a grand slam to make it 6-0 RubberDucks. Akron continued to add on in the inning when Julian Escobedo singled home two more runs to make it 8-0.
Mound Presence
Hunter Gaddis was unhittable in his start for the Ducks. A one-out walk in the bottom of the third would be the only baserunner the right-hander allowed over his six shutout innings with 10 strikeouts. Luis Oviedo followed with three innings allowing just one run on two hits while striking out four batters to record the three inning save.
Duck Tales
Valera got his and RubberDucks huge night started in the first inning when he launched a solo home run to put Akron up 1-0. The RubberDucks continued to add on offensively in the sixth when Naylor lifted a sac-fly to bring home Schneemann and make it 9-0 Akron. An inning later, the Ducks would do more damage when Marcos Gonzalez brought home Escobedo on an RBI double before scoring himself on a two-run home run by Schneemann to make it 12-0 Ducks. Naylor capped off the scoring in the ninth when he lifted another sac-fly to bring home Gonzalez and make it 13-1 Akron.
