Valencia, Leverton Can-Am Players of the Week

DURHAM, NC - Pointstreak, the official statistician of the Can-Am League, has selected Brockton Rox OF Chris Valencia and New Jersey Jackals LHP James Leverton as the Pointstreak Batter and Pitcher of the Week.

In seven games, Valencia batted .577 with five RBIs, 13 runs scored and 15 hits. He also collected four doubles and four stolen bases to go along with a .656 on-base percentage and a .808 slugging percentage. In the 13-7 win over the Newark Bears Saturday, Valencia went 4-for-5 at the plate with four runs scored and three RBIs. The Garden Grove, CA resident is hitting .346 with 38 RBIs, 50 runs scored and 85 hits. He is second in the Can-Am in runs scored, tied for second in hits and fifth in batting average.

This is the third Player of the Week for Leverton this season. The resident of Flower Mound, TX tossed a complete game shutout against the Pittsfield Colonials in the 2-0 win in the second game of the doubleheader. Leverton allowed only a hit and a walk while striking out four Pittsfield batters. The 25-year-old is 8-4 on the year with an earned run average of 2.38. He is second in ERA and third in wins.
