JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Victor Rodriguez's two-run, bases loaded single in the sixth inning broke a 1-1 tie and propelled the Suns to a 4-1 victory over the Orlando Rays on Wednesday in front of 2,695 fans at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville.

Rodriguez singled, scoring Derek Michaelis and Nick Alvarez who walked and reached on a double-error, respectively. After the Suns loaded the bases again, Rays starter Jim Magrane induced Mike Collins to hit into an inning-ending double play.

Magrane (8-5) earned the loss, giving up three runs over seven innings for the Rays (39-55 overall, 7-18 second half). Orlando has lost nine of its last 10 games to Jacksonville.

Rodriguez hit a line drive home run to left field in the eighth inning which padded the Suns' lead. He had three RBI, snapping his 2-for-20 slump since he was traded from the Royals.

Suns starter Edwin Jackson (5-6) benefited from the extra run support. He earned the victory by allowing one run and four hits over seven innings. Lino Urdaneta closed the final two innings to earn his fifth save.

Reggie Abercrombie led the Suns (46-48, 15-10) with three hits.

Right-hander Will McCrotty (1-1, 3.76 ERA) is scheduled to face Rays righty Travis Minix (2-2, 4.31) at 7:05 p.m. Thursday at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville. Because the Rays are moving to Montgomery, Ala., following the season, this is the final meeting between these longtime intrastate rivals.
