Utah Flash Hosts Bakersfield Wednesday to Open NBADL Playoffs

PROVO, Utah, April 12, 2009 - The Utah Flash will open the 2009 NBA Development League Playoffs against the Bakersfield Jam Wednesday at McKay Events Center in Orem. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
Eight teams qualified for the 2009 NBA D-League postseason, including the winners of the three divisions (Colorado, Utah and Iowa) along with the five non-division winning teams with the best regular season records, regardless of division (Austin, Idaho, Dakota, Erie and Bakersfield).
The first and second rounds of the 2009 NBA D-League playoffs will be single elimination, while the Finals will be a best-of-three series. The first round will be played on the higher seed's home floor, while the second round will be hosted by the team with the better regular season record and the Finals will begin on the home floor of the team with the worse regular season record, while the team with the better regular season record will host game two, and, if necessary, game three.
The Flash finished its second regular season with a 32-18 record and clinched its first playoff berth, the NBADL West Division championship and the number two overall seed. Utah used the second selection to select Bakersfield, 26-24 overall and seeded eighth, after top-seeded Colorado selected the seventh-seeded Erie BayHawks.
"Playing Bakersfield is scary process and a tough matchup for us," Flash head coach Brad Jones said. "They are a good team with talented NBA-caliber players. Plus, they are a very familiar opponent for us having played in our division. Hopefully we will have the focus that we had on the final two nights of the regular season."
The Iowa Energy will host the Dakota Wizards and the Austin Toros will host the Idaho Stampede in the remaining first round games.
Flash playoff tickets start at $7 and can be purchased by calling 801-434-HOOP or at the McKay Events Center box office. Flash fans that purchase playoff tickets in advance to every round will receive the ticket to the fourth or championship game, if applicable, free of charge.
