
UT Brings Collegiate Hockey to Cedar Park Center

Cedar Park, Texas - The University of Texas Recreational Sports Men's Ice Hockey team is set to begin its 12th season September 14 at a new location; the team will play 10 games of its 12-game home schedule at Cedar Park Center, sharing ice time with the Texas Stars, American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate of the Dallas Stars.
Tickets are $10 general admission for adults/children and $8 for UT students with a valid ID. Tickets are available game days only at the East main entrance doors of Cedar Park Center. Fans attending the Texas Stars games on October 20 and November 17 will be able to stay afterwards to see Texas take on UT San Antonio and Texas State, respectively, at no additional charge.
"The UT Hockey Club is very grateful to have the opportunity to play at Cedar Park Center this season. To have a venue like this come together with us and be able to promote ice hockey in the Austin area is exciting," said Rick Jardine, Head Coach. "From a recruiting standpoint, the thrill of a playing in an AHL arena for a club team is unbelievable."
Texas Ice Hockey was established to provide the University of Texas with a nationally competitive outlet for UT student athletes who enjoy playing hockey. The team is sponsored by the Division of Recreational Sports within the university and is part of the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA), Division II. The University of Texas prides itself on having some of the brightest students in the country, in addition to having talented hockey players.
"We hope that by bringing our game to a bigger arena we will create a fun and exciting environment for the players, students and fans, as well as help spread the UT hockey name," said Texas Hockey President Joseph Halford.
