KHAK/Rockin' Ray and Skyy Dogs USA Night The Dog Days of May

It's a bird! It's a plane! No, it's Skyy Dogs USA! The Frisbee fetchin' canines will be making their annual visit to Cedar Rapids. Skyy Dogs and Rockin' Ray will perform between innings and also will sign autographs. Or would those be called pawtographs?

Bark in the Park We're going to the dogs!

We know that dogs are man's best friend and as such, get plenty of opportunities to watch baseball on TV. Now we're giving you a chance to bring your pup to an actual game. Dogs will be admitted for $4, which will be donated to the Cedar Valley Humane Society. There will be a doggie parade around the warning track before the game, weather permitting. Before purchasing a ticket, dog owners must complete an owner/dog information sheet and sign the required release documents. They are available online at www.kernels.com. Dogs and owners will be restricted to the Lawn Section and there is a limit of one dog per human. There are a limited number of tickets. It's going to be a howl of a good time!

Rockin' Ray and Skyy Dogs USA Woof! Woof!

They're back for one more day of Frisbee fetchin' fun. Skyy Dogs USA and Rockin' Ray perform between innings and sign, uh, er ... pawtographs?

Krispy Kreme Sundae Indulge yourself

Krispy Kreme Sundaes have become a fan favorite and at every Sunday home game we offer them for $2.00. The sundae features a Krispy Kreme doughnut, Well's Blue Bunny soft-serve ice cream and your choice of chocolate or strawberry syrup. They're Kreme-alicious!

Kids run the bases

Following every Sunday game, the Kernels allow children down on the field to run the bases, just like the big guys do!

The Muscular Dystrophy Association rewards its top fundraisers from last month's lock-up when more than $50,000 was raised for MDA.

Commercial Federal Fireworks Night Big Bang Friday!

The first of four fireworks shows scheduled this season blasts off following this game, courtesy of Commercial Federal Banks. This is always a popular attraction at the ballpark, so you'll want to get your tickets early!

Alzheimer's Association Day Win a trip to Colorado

The Alzheimer's Association East Central Iowa Chapter holds its day at the park. The association will draw for the winner of its Remembrance Raffle, which has a grand prize of a seven-night vacation package to Colorado. Cost of the raffle tickets are $20 and only 2,500 will be sold. The Remembrance Raffle was developed to help the Chapter provide services to the growing number of people affected by the disease throughout East Central Iowa. The holder of the winning ticket need not be present to claim the prize.

Baseball, Hot Dogs, Apple Pie and Chevrolet Win a Car!

What could be a more American way to celebrate the day before Memorial Day than baseball, hot dogs, apple pie and Chevrolet. We'll have half-price hot dogs, certificates for a slice of apple pie from participating Hy-Vee stores and the chance for one lucky fan to drive off with a 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier, the latter courtesy of Pat McGrath Chevyland. People can register for the car drawing now (May 16) at Veterans Memorial Stadium or at Pat McGrath Chevyland. The drawing will take place during the May 25 game. Entrants must be at least 18 years old with a valid driver's license.

- 2003 Kernels tickets are available online at www.kernels.com, at the Kernels Field Ticket Office at the New Veterans Memorial Stadium, or by calling 896-7560 or 1-800-860-3609. Tickets are on sale for any game on the Kernels' schedule.

- All Kernels games can be heard on radio on the Kernels flagship station, The Zone, ESPN Radio 1600. Games also can be heard on the Internet via www.kernels.com or www.kcrg.com.

- The Kernels Charity Pro-Am Golf Outing will be held June 11 at Airport National Public Golf Complex. Golf with a Kernels player and an IGA/PGA section pro in this six-person best shot. Cost is $240 per foursome or $75 for individuals. Call 363-3887. Proceeds go to the Cedar Rapids Junior Golf Association and the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

- Kernels Youth Baseball Camps will be held June 19-21 and July 7-9. The first session is for children age 7 to 10, the second for children age 11 to 14. Both camps run from 9 a.m. to noon each day. Instruction will be provided by Kernels staff and players. Each camper will receive a T-Shirt and a ballpark lunch will be served each day. Cost is $90.
