West Michigan Whitecaps News Release
The longest road trip of the year for the West Michigan Whitecaps keeps getting better. The Whitecaps defeated the Kane County Cougars, 6-3, in Illinois on Friday night to give the 'Caps the series, three games to one. The Whitecaps had won the first series on their 12-game road trip in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and are now an excellent 6-2 since they left home.
With the score 1-1 in the third, the 'Caps took a 3-1 lead with a pair of runs only to see the Cougars score two in their half of the inning to tie things up. Scott Moore's RBI triple in the fifth highlighted a 2-run West Michigan rally for a 5-3 lead. Juan Francia's run-scoring single in the sixth would end the scoring for the night.
Brent Clevlen, with two singles and a double, paced a 10-hit 'Caps attack. Juan Gonzalez added a pair of hits to increase his personal hitting streak to 13 games, second longest in the league this season.
