Fort Worth Cats News Release
FORT WORTH--A rough start to begin the game lead to the Cats' demise as the Colts surged past Fort Worth, 9-3, Monday night at LaGrave Field.
San Angelo jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning, and never trailed. Catcher Salvador Paniagua and third baseman Landon Camp each had RBI doubles in the first. Paniagua's drove in two runs.
The Cats scored a run in both the second and third, but they were then held scoreless from the fourth all the way through the seventh inning. Colts' starter Mark Willinsky pitched just three innings, giving up two runs, one earned, on five hits for a no decision. Reliever Kyle Boggio (2-2) earned the win, tossing three shutout innings and striking out four.
Ahead 4-2, the Colts scored two more runs in the seventh. Both were unearned, and charged to Cats' starter Casey Russell (1-4). The rookie allowed six runs, one earned, on six hits in 6 1/3 innings for the loss.
San Angelo pulled away in the ninth with three more runs. The inning was capped off by a two-run homer from Paniagua. It was his sixth of the year, and third with the Colts.
Despite ten hits for the Cats, none were for extra base hits and nine Fort Worth runners were left on base.
The win improves San Angelo to 47-42, while the loss drops Fort Worth to 49-40. This series continues Tuesday night at LaGrave Field. Tickets can be purchased online at FWCats.com or by phone at (817)332-CATS.
