
Roadrunners Fall to 'Wings

HARLINGEN, Texas - The Edinburg Roadrunners could not hold the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings down as they lost 9-1 Monday night at Harlingen Field.
The WhiteWings (50-38) scored five runs against Edinburg starter Ryan Smith as they got a single run in the bottom of the second and two runs in the bottom of the third and fourth innings for the 5-0 lead.
RGV added to their lead in the bottom of the eightH as they scored four runs against Miguel Martinez extending their lead 9-0.
Edinburg (54-35) managed just one run off of RGV starter Celson Polanco (12-4) who allowed that run in the top of the ninth. Stantrel Smith drove in the lone Roadrunners run with an RBI single that allowed Eric Bloom to score that made it 9-1.
The Roadrunners will wrap up their two-game trip to Harlingen on Tuesday night before returning home for three games against the WhiteWings. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. at Harlingen Field.
