D.C. United News Release
WASHINGTON, D.C. (March 4, 2005) - United for D.C., the charitable arm of D.C. United, announced this week plans for the Third Annual First XI Charity Kick-off Luncheon to be held on Tuesday, March 29, 2005 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Marriott at Metro Center. Sponsors, table purchasers and individual attendees will have the opportunity to meet the 2005 D.C. United players and coaches as they prepare to open the tenth MLS season, in defense of their 2004 MLS Cup Championship.
"We are pleased to be able to host such a fantastic event again this year," said Catherine Marquette, Executive Director for United for D.C. and United's Community Relations Director. "We found a great partner in the team at the Marriott at Metro Center and feel as though this location will give us the ability to grow this fundraiser into the season kick-off event it can and should be. United for D.C. is doing some quality work in the community, and we look forward to being able to showcase our activities while at the same time allowing our fans to mix and mingle with the defending MLS Cup Champions."
Presenting and supporting sponsorships are available for $2,500 and $1,500, respectively. Both allow for recognition on all forthcoming press releases, website postings and e-newsletter communication pieces and luncheon materials. In addition, each sponsorship includes a table at the luncheon for nine attendees, who will be paired with a player or coach, while the presenting sponsorship also allows for a representative from the organization to address the crowd.
In addition, tables are available for $750 each, which allows for nine individuals to sit with a player or coach during the event. Individual spots are available for $90 a person. All donations are tax deductible to the fullest extent allowed under the law. United for D.C. will also host a silent auction with items from D.C. United, other teams across Major League Soccer and other sports teams and places of business.
The event will be emcee-ed by Dave Johnson, the "voice" of D.C. United, and Russ Thaler of Comcast SportsNet. In addition, a guest speaker will be a part of this year's festivities, and the 2005 D.C. United squad will be introduced.
