
Chivas USA falls 0-3 to San Jose Earthquakes

CARSON, Calif. (Friday, March 4, 2005) - Chivas USA fell 0-3 to the San Jose Earthquakes in a preseason scrimmage at The Home Depot Center. Following the loss in its first match against an MLS opponent, Chivas USA's record drops to 3-2-0 in the U.S. leg of its 2005 preseason.
Today's match, played on University Field Two of The Home Depot Center, was divided into three periods of 30 minutes each, with San Jose scoring at the beginning of each "third". Chivas USA used its starters for the first two periods, with Brad Guzan in goal in the place of MartÃn Zúñiga, out indefinitely with sprained anterior and lateral cruciate ligaments in his left knee following an injury suffered in Wednesday's scrimmage versus the United States men's national team.
Also out, for six to eight weeks, is defender Armando Begines, who was diagnosed with a fractured left collarbone, also suffered in the match against the U.S.
Chivas USA returns to training at 10:00 a.m. PT Monday morning at The Home Depot Center, before taking a 12:30 p.m. bus to San Diego, where on Tuesday night they will face Atlante at Qualcomm Stadium in the Red-and-White's first-ever exhibition match in the United States.

Chivas USA will make its debut it the 2005 MLS season on Saturday, April 2, when it hosts MLS Cup champions D.C. United at The Home Depot Center live at 12:00 p.m. on ABC Sports.
