Philadelphia Union News Release

CHESTER, Pa. (August 16, 2010) - Philadelphia Union go back on the road for the next two weeks, as the club first travels south to meet Eastern Conference rival D.C. United on Sunday, August 22, at 2:00 p.m. Six days later, the Union will take a trip north to face the New England Revolution on Saturday, August 28, at 7:30 p.m. Both matches will be broadcast live on 6abc.

The Union finally get a bit of a break after a five-game in 14 days stretch, that finished with three ties and two loses. Philadelphia last hosted the Colorado Rapids on Saturday, August 14th, earning a 1-1 draw thanks to Danny Mwanga's seventh goal of the season. On two separate occasions in stoppage time, it seemed that the Union were going pull out the win but it was not to be, as the club was penalized once again by some controversial calls.

Team Manager Peter Nowak and his crew enter Major League Soccer's Week 21 against Nowak's former club D.C. United, currently last in the Eastern Conference standings with a 3-14-3 record. The Union (4-10-5, 17 points) and the Red-and-Black have already met once this year, as the two teams clashed for the first time in Philadelphia's home opener on April 10. The match ended with Sebastien Le Toux's first hat trick to give the home team a 3-2 win over its southern neighbors. Sitting right above D.C. United in the Eastern ranking, Philadelphia will travel to the country's capital with the only intention of adding a win to their record that keeps them alive in the playoffs fight.
