
Union Heads into Greek Week

Philadelphia Union News Release
Chester, Pa. (February 28, 2011) -Philadelphia Union will face two Greek teams in a 48 hour span, as the team just signed a 1-1 draw with Super League side Ergotelis F.C. on Monday morning and will now take on Hersonisos F.C. on Wednesday, March 2nd. The Union arrived to Heraklion, Crete on Thursday, February 25th, and have been practicing at host Ergotelis F.C.'s facilities, as part of the second leg of preseason training presented by Colonial Marble & Granite.
The Union made their last acquisition last Monday with the signing of Guatemalan forward Carlos "El Pescadito" Ruiz on a free transfer from Greek SuperLiga club Aris FC. Major League Soccer's Most Valuable Player and Golden Boot Award winner and 2002 MLS Cup Champion, Ruiz returns to the League after two years playing abroad.
Philadelphia Union's roster will be locked up this week, as Major League Soccer's Roster Compliance Deadline is set for Tuesday, March 1.
