Adirondack Frostbite News Release
DANBURY, CT - The Adirondack Frostbite's eight-game unbeaten streak came to end on Saturday night as the Frostbite fell to the Danbury Trashers 5-2.
The Trashers took a 2-0 lead to the locker room after the first period. Luke Sellars put Danbury on the board at 8:09 as his quick shot from the right point beat Kris Tebbs to the near post for his first goal of the season.
Danbury's power-play then went to work at the 13:29 mark. Donny Grover sent the puck to the front of the net, and it sat free in the crease where Mike Omicioli was able to tap it in for his 15th of the year.
Ed Campbell added the Trashers' second power-play goal of the night just 55 seconds into the second period to make it 3-0, as his shot from the left point beat Tebbs through traffic for his second goal of the season.
Danbury took a 4-0 lead at the 9:51 mark. Mike Omicioli fed a cross-crease pass to his brother Drew, who was able to flip the puck past Tebbs for his 31st of the year.
The Frostbite got on the scoreboard 1:14 into the third period. Hugo Belanger skated across the Trashers' blue line, and found Sylvain Cloutier in the high slot. Cloutier one-timed a shot through Sylvain Daigle's five-hole for his 20th goal of the season.
Adirondack pulled within two at 10:14. Belanger took a quick wrist shot from the right-wing circle that beat Daigle over the blocker pad for his 23rd goal of the season.
Carlyle Lewis scored an empty-net goal with 1:47 remaining to set the final.
Adirondack concludes its busy week on Sunday, hosting the Richmond RiverDogs at 5:15 p.m. It's another Family Four Pack Night, with four tickets, four slices of pizza, and four sodas just $50. In addition, the UHL Cross-Checks Colon Cancer Month begins as Molly McMaster will be in the Frostbite's starting line-up, and skating the first shift of the game. There will be free handouts and educational materials available throughout the night. Tickets are available at the Glens Falls Civic Center Box Office, or by calling (518) 798-0202.
