LAFAYETTE, LA - Five unanswered goals gave the Pensacola Ice Flyers their 5-1 victory over the Louisiana Ice Gators on Friday night in front of the 6,887 at the Cajundome.

6:26 into the opening period, Clark Byczynski gave the Ice Gators their only goal of the game. The remainder of the first became the "Nick McParland Show" as he tallied a hat trick with Brett Lutes in on assists for all three goals. Justin Fillion and Brett Beebe contributed with assists as well.

Pensacola continued with their momentum into the second period as Corey Banfield's power play goal gave Pensacola a three-goal lead at the 6:25 mark. Louisiana's head coach Drew Omicioli made the decision to replace Marco De Filippo with Garrett Zemiak in net follow the Ice Flyers' fourth goal.

Towards the later part of the second, Jon Puskar followed up on a rebound from a shot taken by Keegan Flaherty and found the back of the net to take a commanding 5-1 lead to end the period.

The third period was scoreless on both ends and Pensacola would win convincingly at the Cajundome over the Ice Gators.

Lutes was designated as the first star of the game with his four assists followed by McParland with his three goals and then Max Strang who allowed only one goal in on the 22 shots faced.

With the win, Pensacola now holds a record of 24-14-6 for 54 points and are tied with Columbus for third in the SPHL standings.

The Ice Flyers will be back on the road to take on the Huntsville Havoc Saturday at 2:05 p.m. You can watch live at Beef O Brady's in downtown Pensacola or 9 Mile Road. All away games are also available online at SPHLLive.com.
