FC Dallas News Release
FRISCO, Texas - The U.S. Under-23 Men's National Team will host Colombia on Tuesday, March 29, at Toyota Stadium for the second leg of its two-game home-and-away playoff for a spot in the 2016 Olympic Games, U.S. Soccer announced today.
The match, which will air live on ESPN2, is set to kick off at 8:30 p.m. CT, following the U.S. MNT match against Guatemala at 6:25 p.m. CT. The first leg of the playoff is scheduled for Friday, March 25, in Barranquilla, Colombia, at 3:30 p.m. CT.
Tickets to the match at Toyota Stadium go on sale at 10 a.m., Friday, Feb. 5, starting at $20 for general admission. FC Dallas season ticket members will receive discounted pre-sale ticket options and FC Dallas will also be offering a special two-match ticket package, which includes a ticket to the Olympic Qualifier and an East Sideline seat for the match of buyer's choice in April.
Last October, the USA won its three first-round games in the CONCACAF Men's Olympic Qualifying Championship before falling in its semifinal match against Honduras. The U-23s bounced back and won the third-place match against Canada to earn a place in the playoff. Colombia finished in second place in the 2015 South American Youth championship.
The U.S. is looking to return to the Olympics for the first time since 2008 in Beijing, when it posted a 1-1-1 record, but did not advance from a group that included Gold medalists Nigeria. The USA's best showing in the Olympics came during the 2000 games in Sydney, when the team defeated Japan in the quarterfinals and finished fourth in the event.
FC Dallas goalkeeper Chris Seitz was a member of the 2008 U.S. Olympic squad, while Dallas midfielder and Plano-native Kellyn Acosta is expected to be among the current Olympic hopefuls.
