ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Despite goals from Ryan Bourque (Boxford, Mass.) and Chris McCarthy (Collegeville, Pa.), the U.S. National Under-18 Team was edged out by the St. Louis Bandits, 3-2, here today.

After a back-and-forth first period, St. Louis got on the board first at 15:47 with a power-play tally from Clinton Bourbonais. Bourque answered back with a power-play goal of his own at 17:11 to knot the score. A.J. Treais (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) dropped the puck to Kyle Palmieri (Montvale, N.J.), who drove to the net and sent a pass to Bourque inside the right faceoff circle. Bourque then wired a shot into the top-right corner of the net.

In the second stanza, St. Louis took a two-goal advantage. Ryan Rashid made it 2-1 with a power-play goal at 7:42, while Blake Edwards added a tally at 12:30.

McCarthy drew the U.S. within one after he tucked home a rebound off of a Jeremy Morin (Auburn, N.Y.) shot at 11:06 of the third frame. Despite a furious effort by Team USA, it was unable to put another goal past Bandits netminder Keith Kinkaid.

U.S. goaltender Adam Murray (Anchorage, Alaska) made 14 saves on the afternoon.

The U.S. National Under-18 Team next will travel for a weekend series at Bemidji State University. Team USA will meet the Beavers on Friday night at 7:35 p.m. CT and 7 p.m. on Saturday.

NOTES: Team USA out shot the Bandits by a 28-17 margin ... A.J. Treais extended his team point lead to 37 with his team-best 23rd assist.
