WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Winston-Salem Dash shutout the Brooklyn Cyclones 8-0, with Tyler Osik hitting for the cycle.

Garrett Schoenle and Oscar Rojas both opened the game with three scoreless frames apiece, but it was Schoenle who stole the show for the Dash. The southpaw struck out the side in the first inning, before fanning two more Cyclones in both the second and third innings.

The Dash were able to break through against Cam Opp in the top of the fourth. Ben Norman continued his hot stretch at the plate with a one-out single, before Tyler Osik jumped on the first pitch and turned it around for a two-run home run. That gave Osik a homer and a double on the day, and put the Dash in front 2-0.

A scoreless bottom of the fourth by Schoenle wound up being his final frame. He surrendered just one hit, while walking two and racking up 8 strikeouts in a brilliant return to form after scuffling in a few prior appearances.

In the top of the fifth, Caberea Weaver walked then promptly swiped second base. After a couple quick outs, Bryan Ramos plated Weaver with a single into left field. Next up, Ben Norman launched a two-run jack to right field, to give Winston-Salem a 5-0 lead. The inning didn't end there. Osik tripled right after the home run, then scored on a single by Harvin Mendoza.

Everett Hazelwood gave the Dash two scoreless innings to follow up Schoenle, then Nick Gallagher put up a pair of zeroes as well.

The Dash offense provided some more breathing room in the top of the eighth. The inning opened with a single by Osik, which gave him the cycle. It was the first time a Winston-Salem Dash player had hit for the cycle since Steele Walker, in 2019. Osik came around to score later in the frame, when Keegan Fish left the yard for a two-run shot to put Winston-Salem ahead 8-0.

Alex Mateo worked a scoreless ninth inning, to give the Dash a resounding 8-0 win. Hazelwood got the win, while Opp took the loss on his record.
