Tyler MacKay Returns to Nailers

WHEELING, WV – The Wheeling Nailers announce today that goaltender Tyler MacKay has resigned with the team. MacKay returns to the Nailers after playing last season with the team and will be in uniform beginning Friday night at home against the Johnstown Chiefs.

MacKay played the first half of the 2002-2003 season for the Adirondack IceHawks of the United Hockey League. He appeared in 15 games for the IceHawks and had a record of 5-9-0. His goals against average was 3.62 and his save percentage was .877. Last season was MacKay's first in professional hockey and he played 35 games for the Nailers and compiled a record of 16-12-1. His goals against average was 2.83 and his save percentage was .920. MacKay also had one shutout last season, a 3-0 win against the Dayton Bombers on March 30. His win that night was Nailers head coach John Brophy's 1000th career win.

The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League recalled David Chant and will reassign him to the Adirondack IceHawks of the UHL. Chant, a first year professional from Whitby, ONT, appeared in nine games for the Nailers and compiled a 1-6-0 record. He had a goals against average of 5.82 and a save percentage of .867.
