Two Solo Home Runs Is All Zephyrs Need to Down Sounds

The New Orleans Zephyrs managed just two hits on Wednesday against the Nashville Sounds. Fortunately, they were both home runs.
New Orleans got solo home runs from Bryan Petersen in the first and Chris Aguila in the second, then rode another six strong innings from starting pitcher Tom Koehler to beat Nashville, 2-1.
Of the Zephyrs' 14 games this season, seven have been decided by one run, with the Z's owning a 6-1 record in those contests.
Koehler (2-0) and the Z's bullpen combined to limit Nashville to four hits, with the lone Sounds' run coming on a fourth-inning homer by Brendan Katin.
Koehler allowed one run and three hits in six innings and notched eight strikeouts to win his second consecutive start. The right-hander has given up just two runs in his first 18 innings this season.
Burke Badenhop took over for Koehler in the seventh to hold the Sounds scoreless before Dustin Richardson tossed two scoreless innings to record his first save.
Sounds starter Frankie De La Cruz (0-1) got the loss despite allowing just the two home runs. De La Cruz struck out nine in seven innings.
The Zephyrs return to action on Thursday night at 7 p.m. when Adalberto Mendez (1-1) takes on Sounds Sam Narron (0-0) in game three of the four-game series.
