
Two short handed goals get the Generals a 3-1 victory over Richmond

FLINT, MI - The Flint Generals of the United Hockey League earn a tough two points against several former teammates after two trades between the clubs earlier this week. Two short-handed goals would be the difference as the Generals defeated the Richmond Riverdogs 3-1 in front of 3,748 on Saturday night at Perani's Arena.
Flint opened the scoring just thirty-three seconds in as right wing Rob Valicevic (32) pounced on a loose puck to beat former Generals' goaltender Dan McIntyre for the 1-0 lead. Richmond tied it in the second period as former Generals Kris Waltze (9) scored from in close at 14:34 to deadlock the game at 1-1.
Flint wrapped up the victory on two short-handed goals on the same penalty kill as Jason Selleke (7) scored on a breakaway at 16:05 for the 2-1 lead. Player/Assistant Coach, Bobby Reynolds (24) scored on a Riverdogs miscue in the offensive zone for the 3-1 lead to end the scoring. There were no goals in the third period.
Flint goaltender Marco Emond (14-11-4) earned the victory while stopping 22 of 23 shots. Richmond's Dan McIntyre was named the game's #1 star stopping 39 of 42 shots.
Flint (29-26-11- 69 pts.) still holds third place in the Central Division the eighth and final playoff spot in the overall standings. The Generals carry a two-game winning streak into next week's action. Richmond (28-34-5, 61 pts.) is still in third place in the Eastern Division is tenth overall in the league standings, eight points behind the Generals in the battle for the last playoff spot.
The Generals hit the road for four games next weekend in Missouri and Kansas City before returning home to host the Motor City Mechanics on Wednesday, March 23, 2005 at Perani's Arena at 7:05 p.m. Tickets are on sale at any TicketMaster location.
