Rockford IceHogs News Release
Rockford, Ill.- In their only meeting of the 2004-05 season, the Rockford IceHogs dropped a 4-2 contest to the Elmira Jackals in front of 3,251 at the Rockford MetroCentre Sunday afternoon. The IceHogs peppered Elmira goalie Kevin Kurk with 48 shots, but only knocked two past him in the loss.
The Hogs took the 1-0 lead in the first period while skating short-handed. Rookie center Miguel Lafleche broke in on a breakaway and buried his second short-handed goal of the season 6:13. Elmira, however, responded at 6:55 with a power play goal on the same penalty when Eddy Lowe slipped one under Michel Robinson.
The Jackals then took the lead with a short-handed goal of their own when defenseman Jason Jaworski blasted one in at 18:20 of the first. Rockford would tie the contest in the second frame after center Alex Kim slipped his fifth goal of the campaign in at 4:41.
In the third period, Craig MacDonald scored the game-winning goal on a 2-on-1 breakaway, firing the goal over the shoulder of Robinson at 13:59. Despite out-shooting the Jackals by 28 shots, the Hogs couldn't solve Kurk the rest of the way. Elmira finally put the game away with an empty netter at 19:59 from Corey Foster.
Next Home Game: Monday, March 14 vs. Kansas City Outlaws. Game time is 7:05 p.m. The IceHogs and Outlaws mix it up for one last time. The game is a rescheduled contest from Saturday, April 9. Season ticket holders should use ticket #39 for the game.
