Quad City Mallards News Release

Moline, IL- The Mallards continued their hot play with a 2-1 win over Kansas City on Sunday at The MARK. With the victory, the Mallards improve to 7-1-1 in their last nine games. Jason Deskins scored both Mallards goals in the victory while Robert Gherson came just 2:16 short of recording his second consecutive shutout. The Mallards are now 8-1-0 this year vs. Kansas City.

After nearly 40 minutes of scoreless hockey, Deskins recorded the game's first goal with eight seconds left in the second. Following the intermission, Deskins stormed back onto the ice to record his second goal of the night just 25 seconds into the third period. Alexander Skorohod earned an assist on Deskins' second goal to earn his first point as a pro hockey player. The pair of markers gives Deskins 21 goals on the season.

Robert Gherson was solid again in the Mallards net stopping 29 shots. Jimmy Callahan scored Kansas City's lone goal with 2:16 left in the third period to ruin Gherson's bid for a second consecutive shutout.

The Mallards are back at The MARK on Wednesday to finish off their season series with Muskegon. The Mallards have not lost at home to the Fury this year. Individual tickets to any Mallards home game are available via The MARK box office or via phone at (563) 326-1111.
